The main problem in dental implant surgery for patients would be the stress or pressure placed on the implants, screws or the prosthetic parts of the dental implants. Continuous application of pressure on these parts can increase the risk of breaking the prosthetic parts or the implants since breakage can occur at every connection. Since cracks or breaks occur at the weakest point, we as dentists, prefer that these breaks occur on the prosthetic parts rather than the dental implant themselves. This is because it is impossible to change the dental implants without removing the bone and everything attached to it. On the other hand, if the crack happens on the prosthetic part, then we’ll know the failure point will be the prosthetics and not the implants.
